About
Brenda McColpin
LMSW, RN
Hello, I am Brenda McColpin. I am a Maryland Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and a Tennessee licensed registered nurse. I have provided individual teletherapy sessions for young adults and seniors since August 2021.
My emphasis in school and my practicum was on trauma. As a trauma-informed therapist, you will find my approach to be collaborative and supportive. I celebrate diversity and strive to provide a warm, non-judgmental, safe, and welcoming environment where clients grow and become empowered to be their best selves. I focus on using integrative treatment approaches that meet the goals and needs expressed by my clients. I frequently use the modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills and techniques. I encourage commitment to participation in strengthening and honing skills between sessions. Through offering worksheets and psychoeducational materials, I strive to aid in empowering and conditioning healthier responses.
My work is primarily with adults, helping them develop skills and learn strategies to cope with depression and reduce anxiety. I also help clients learn to process and move forward through grief, manage work/life balance, navigate life transitions, cope with trauma, become more assertive, and build stronger, healthier relationships.
